Terms & privacy

What this site is

bhrastachar.com is an independent awareness project: a crowdsourced, anonymous registry of bribe demands reported by the public in Nepal. It is not a government service, an investigative agency, or a court.

Reports are unverified allegations submitted anonymously. They are presented in aggregate to show patterns. Nothing on this site should be read as a finding of fact about any office or individual.

No individuals are named

The submission form does not ask for, and moderation removes, names of individual officials or private persons. Reports describe roles, offices, departments and amounts: patterns, not people.

If you find a report containing personal data, contact us and it will be removed.

Privacy of reporters

No account or login is required. We do not store your name, email, phone number, raw IP address or device fingerprint. The public dataset is the entirety of what we hold about a report.

Do not include information in a description that could identify you. Anonymity also depends on what you write.

Moderation

Reports may be edited or removed if they name individuals, contain hate speech or spam, are duplicative, or are plainly implausible. Moderation aims to keep the dataset useful and lawful, not to editorialize.

Open data license

The dataset is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). You may share and adapt it, including commercially, with attribution to bhrastachar.com.

If you are facing corruption now

This site documents; it does not intervene. To make a formal complaint, contact the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) at hotline 107, or the Hello Sarkar grievance line 1111. In emergencies contact Nepal Police at 100.

Liability

The site is provided as-is, without warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by the laws of Nepal, the operators are not liable for decisions made based on this data. Use of the site constitutes acceptance of these terms.
